Fabrics are chosen to match the natural tones and colour found in the Scottish countryside, creating chairs that not only serve as functional furniture but also as works of art. How the fabric is created & chosen
In my upholstery work, I specialise in using family fabrics that carry sentimental value, alongside new tweeds and various contemporary fabrics. Some of these fabrics are thoughtfully hand-dyed using Procion dyes, allowing for a unique palette that enhances the character of each piece.
Machine embroidery, stencilling and screen print are employed to illustrate flowers and fauna. This blend of traditional and modern materials not only ensures durability but also adds a distinctive touch to every upholstery project, making each creation a truly bespoke offering.

About the artist
I am a city and guilds upholsterer. My first landscape chair was completed some time ago as a gift for a friend who didnt leave his home often, aiming to bring inside a feeling of the outdoors
The idea proved popular and I have since worked on many well loved family chairs, extending their life to the next generation .
